  • As I get older, it seems like there is this longing inside of me for companionship. My husband and I, now married for over 28 years, have experienced many phases in love as we have shared life together and have two amazing children, Peter now 18 and Julia 15 years of age. I just turned 50 this year and interestingly enough I keep remembering when Lando and I first met when I was 15, and then later when we started dating when I was 20. The sweetness of falling in love, the expectancy of meeting, spending time together and getting to know each other.

I started to get into watching Korean dramas on Netflix. There is something innocent, corky and modest about their love stories, especially the ones when they meet young in high school and their love flourishes from a friendship. But being completely honest, I was spending way too much of my free time watching those, and I felt Jesus tugging on my heart: “Turn off the screen and come spend time with me.” Not that I was watching anything bad, but He was trying to show me that this longing I was feeling and was trying to fulfill with memories and dramas, only Him could fulfill.

So I asked him, "Ok, how do we spend this time together?" and He said:” Read Song of Songs. Not sure about you, but I never thought of Song of Songs a very holy book and to be honest it seemed to describe the love of a man and a woman, not of the King and His bride. Oh, I was so wrong. I started reading it in the Passion Translation, and He started to reveal Himself and His love for His bride(the church) in a completely new way to me.

This piece is inspired by 2 verses.

“.. our resting place is anointed and flourishing, like a green forest meadow bathed in light. Rafters of cedar branches are over our heads and balconies of pleasant smelling pines.” Song of Songs 1:16-17

“His left hand cradles my head while his right hand holds me close. I am at rest in this love.” Song of Songs 2:6

Our King is calling us to delight in Him, to be captivated by His presence, and in turn He is also captivated by our eyes and voice in worship and prayer as we see and worship Him in Spirit and with fresh revelation from the Holy Spirit. He invites us to rest in His love. What an amazing King is our Lord Jesus.

This piece was painted during Tabernacle of David at RTTN Church and as I painted, one of the songs that we were worshiping was YESHUA by Jesus Image.
